RuneScape er eit Java-basert dataspel i MMORPG-sjangeren, utgjeve og utvikla av Jagex Ltd. Spelet finst i både ein gratisversjon, og ein meir omfattande betalt versjon og har omkring fem millionar aktive gratisbrukarar og over ein million betalande brukarar, og er dermed eit av verdas største nettspel. Delar av grunnen til populariteten skuldast at ein kan spele frå dei fleste nettlesarar der Java er installert. Runescape blei laga av av Andrew Gower, skaparen av DeviousMUD forløparen til Runescape i 1998. Etter att det blei omskrive og gitt nytt namn, blei spelet utgitt for ålmenta 4. januar 2001. Spelet har blitt kjent på grunn av moglegheita til å spela gratis.
