In the series "Timeless" it is stated several times that "bad things happen" when you travel to a past in your own life span. So it is avoided. If I remember correctly Rufus explains it in the very first episode. Because he is one of the inventors of the time machine, he should know. And I see no reason for him to make it up and betray the others.
But in one episode they meet Anthony in 1969. The actor was born 1958 and I don't think that his character is meant to be 11 years younger than the actor.
So how is this possible?
And as a side question, why doesn't Rufus (and all the other characters) wonder how this is possible after that encounter?
And if we should assume that they wonder and learn that their assumption was false offscreen, why Rufus and Wyatt go to great length later to try to change something before both are born instead of just traveling to the event they want to change?
