Sani Abacha (20. september 1943–8. juni 1998) var ein nigeriansk offiser og politikar. Han var de facto president i Nigeria frå 1993 til han døydde i 1998.
Abacha hadde militær utdanning frå Storbritannia og Nigeria, og gjekk inn i det nigerianske forsvaret i 1963, der han oppnådde grad som
general. Han var aktiv i militærkuppa i 1983 og 1985, og etter kuppet i 1985 vart han utnemnd til stabssjef for hæren. I 1990 vart han utnemnd til forsvarsminister. I 1993 gjennomførte han sjølv eit statskupp og utropte seg sjølv til president. Abacha døydde 54 år gamal av eit hjarteåtak i 1998.
