Bangui sett frå verdsrommet
Bangui er hovudstaden og den største byen i Den sentralafrikanske republikken. Folketalet er estimert til å vere om lag 700 000.
Bangui ligg langs den nordlege breidda av elva Ubangi like nedanfor ei rekkje stryk som hindrar skipsfart oppover elva, på den sørlege grensa. Den framkomelege Ubangi-elva svingar sørover nedanfor Bangui og renn saman med elva Kongo like sør for Ekvator, nær Brazzaville. Elva markerer grensa mellom Den sentraleuropeiske republikk og Den demokratiske republikken Kongo. Den kongolesiske byen Zongo ligg på den andre sida av elva, overfor Bangui.
Dei fleste innbyggjarane i Den sentralafrikanske republikken bur i dei vestlege delane, nær Bangui.
Sentrum av byen ligg nær elva, og har en stor triumfboge, reist til minne om Bokassa, eit stort presidentpalass og eit stort marked.
