Regionen Dalane ligg sør i Rogaland fylke, sør for Jæren. Egersund by fungerer som regionalt sentrum i Dalane. Dalane omfattar kommunane Bjerkreim, Eigersund, Lund og Sokndal.
Avisa Dalane Tidende har hovudkontoret sitt i Egersund. Dalane folkemuseum har to avdelingar i Egersund. Ei avdeling er fajansemuseum, medan hovudutstillinga er eit folkemuseum.
Dalane har også godt transportsamband, til dømes jernbane (Sørlandsbanen og Jærbanen), ferje til Danmark, og to viktige vegar, Europaveg 39 og Nordsjøvegen (Rv.44).
