Den viktorianske eleanorkrossen ved Charing Cross.
Charing Cross er eit område i City of Westminster i det sentrale London.
Namnet «Charing» kjem frå ein liten landsby som låg på denne staden, og tyder 'ein sving i elva'. I denne landsbyen sette Edvard I opp eit av eleanorkrossane, monument til minne om kona hans, Eleanor av Castilla, som blei reist på dei tolv stadene der kista hennar stod over natta under ferda frå Lincolnshire til Westminster. Ein viktoriansk «kopi» av krossen, som er både større og meir ornamental enn originalen, står utanfor Charing Cross stasjon. Den nye krossen blei utforma av Edward Middleton Barry. Det opphavlege stod på staden der ein i dag finn ei statue av Karl I av England.
Alle avstandar til London blir målt frå eit punkt i Charing Cross. Dette er markert med ein plakett like ved Trafalgar Square.
