Kempston er ein by i Bedfordshire i England. Han ligg rett ved Bedford, og dei to byane har til saman omkring 100 000 innbyggjarar av totalt omkring 150 000 i distriktet. Byen blir rekna som ein forstad til Bedford, men det er òg mange som pendlar til Milton Keynes eller London.
Byen er nemnt i Domesday Book (1086) under namnet Camestone, men busetjinga er eldre. Det ligg ein angelsaksisk gravstad i byen, der Saxon Centre no står. Han var ein periode den største landsbyen i England, men fekk så bystatus.
Namnet ser ut til å opphavleg ha vore Kemestun. Det brytoniske ordet cambio tyder bøygt, medan tun er angelsaksisk for busetjing. Elva Great Ouse svingar kraftig ovanfor Bedford, og det er dette det blir vist til i namnet, «busetjinga der elva bøyer seg». Nokre meiner at keltarane kalla elva Cambita («den bøygde») i dette området.
