Hans Olsson Flaten (29. juni 1858–28. mai 1930) var ein norsk lærar, gardbrukar og bygdehistorikar i Hemsedal.
Flaten var bondeson og odelsgut frå Hemsedal som gjekk Voss lærarskule 1876-78. Deretter var han skulelærar i heimbygda. Han gifta seg i 1887 med ei jente frå bygda og kjøpte så gard i Eikregrenda i 1888. Frå 1902 var han gardbrukar på heiltid.
Flaten hadde stor interesse for bygdesoge og gav i 1906 ut Hemsedal og Hemsedøler, saman med Ingvald H. Ulsaker. Boka kom ut i Fargo i Nord-Dakota og retta seg særleg mot norsk-amerikanske utvandrarar. Åtte år seinare gav han ut bygdeboka Hemsedal 1814-1914, eit mindre verk som «syner ei sjeldsynt innleving i emnet». Og Hemsedals slektshistorie 1693-1923 vart prenta i 1925.
