Den sarmatiske kratonen er eit geologisk og tektonisk omgrep for den sørlege delen av Den austeuropeiske kratonen, òg kjend som Det skytiske platået. Kratonen inneheld bergartar frå arkeikum som er 2,8 til 3,7 milliardar år gamle. I løpet av karbontida vart kratonen splitta av Dnepr-Donets-rifta. Kratonen vart då delt av geomorfologisk av Donbass-foldinga.
Sarmatia består av landmassar som i arkeikum oppstod kvar for seg og som seinare smelta i hop.
