Akon (fødd Aliaune Badara Akon Thiam, 16. april 1977)[1] er ein amerikansk R&B-songar som i sine sju første år voks opp i Senegal. I sjuårsalderen flytta han til New Jersey i USA. Han er muslim, og er son av jazztrommeslagaren Mor Thiam.
Akon gav ut debutalbumet Trouble i 2004, som vart ein stor slager med songen «Lonely». Songen stod på VG-lista i fleire veker i 2004. Nyleg hadde han lansert albumet, Konvicted. Dei nye singlane hans; «I Wanna Fuck You (også kjent som «I Wanna Love You», frå musikkvideoen; endra tittel på grunn av amerikansk lovgiving), «Smack That» og «Don't Matter» som gjorde det bra på fleire hitlister verda over.
