Seltjarnarnes er plassert ytst på same halvøy som Reykjavík ligg på.
Seltjarnarnes (utt: sell-tjardnar-nes) er ein by i hovudstadsområdet på Island. Han er au den minste kommunen på øya. Pr. desember 2006 budde det 4467 menneske i kommunen som ligg ytst på same halvøy som Reykjavík. Seltjarnarneshreppur valde det fyrste styret sitt i 1875. Før dette omfatta den gamle Seltjarnarneshreppur heile neset mellom Kollafjörður og Skerjafjörður (det vil seie mesteparten av Reykjavík). Delar av Kópavogur høyrte tidlegare au til Seltjarnarneshreppur, men etter Valhúsahæð blei bebygd under og etter andre verdskrig blei kommunen etter årsskiftet 1947/1948 som i dag.
Seltjarnarnes fekk status som kjøpstad 29. mars 1974.
