Prinsippet for minste verknad er eit prinsipp i den klassiske mekanikken, som seier at alle partiklar rører seg slik at ein bestemd storleik, verknaden til partikkelen, har anten minimal eller maksimal verdi, samanlikna med verdien til verknaden i nærliggande banar partikkelen kan tenkjast å følgje. Prinsippet vart opphavleg framsett av Pierre Louis Maupertuis i 1747, og seinare formulert på ein presis måte av Euler og Lagrange. Eit spesialtilfelle av prinsippet er at ein fri partikkel rører seg mellom to punkt slik at reisetida er minst mogleg. Dette er analogt med Fermats prinsipp for rørsla til ljoset.
