F16 frå det norske luftforsvaret
Lockheed Martin F-16 Fighting Falcon er eit amerikansk kampfly opphavleg produsert av General Dynamics. F-16 er i bruk i mange land over heile verda, blant anna i Noreg, Danmark, Nederland, USA og Belgia.
Flyet et basert på det såkalla «fly by wire»–konseptet, der alle kommandoane frå piloten vert styrd elektronisk via straumkablar. Første prototyp, YF-16, flaug i 1974, og F-16 gjekk inn i teneste den 17 August 1978. Jagarflyet vart bestemt kjøpt inn til det norske luftforsvaret i 1975. Det første flyet kom til Noreg i 1981.
Totalt er det produsert ca. 3 000 fly.

Norsk F-16B får drivstoff ifrå lufta
- F-16A/B – de originale variantane, B-varianten er ein tosetar.
- F-16C/D – generell oppdatering, moderinisering av elektronikk, motor etc.
- F-16E/F – basert på C/D-varianten, med blant anna ein betre radar, berre seld til Dei sameinte arabiske emirata.
- F-16ADF – oppgradert A/B-variant, var i bruk i USAs National Guard.
- F-16I – variant laga for det israelske luftforsvaret.
- F-16XL – variant med deltaving til eksperimentelt bruk i NASA.
- F-2A/B(FS-X) – variant produsert for det japanske forsvaret.
- RF-16C/F-16R – variant for bruk til oppklaring.
